I used to work with a guy (super hardcore survivalist type dude) that would hunt super old school. He would go camp, make a spear, and hide up in a tree or hide in brush (disguising his scent in some way). He would then jump down/out and kill the deer with the spear, usually wounding it and then having to track it down as it bled out. He was an interesting dude.
