Holding people responsible for words they said that you don't like is asinine.
Words are actions.
Canceling Roseanne for being a screeching racist or Joanne Rowling for being transphobic is responsible consumerism. Public figures especially should be cognizant of their words as they have such a wider reach.

Like I said, if you can't understand the nuance between holding people responsible for deplorable stuff they've said and done and canceling someone for some shock humor that missed the mark (though, there is a line, somewhere) - you're just as responsible for cancel culture as those that fall into it.
