blue discs are CDs instead of DVDs; typically these were kinda low quality 3rd-party games from the early days of the console, so I dont know if there are any gems youre missing out on.

however, this also means you cant play PS1 games, I believe.

I assume you have a fat PS2, they had this problem because they used different laser hardware to read CDs and DVDs. Whereas slims used the same hardware regardless of disc type, so they dont have this issue of being able to read one but not the other. (I think thats how it goes at least.)
