In culinary terms, the simplest way to look at it is that a vegetable is a savory plant (that isn't a grain) and a fruit is a sweet one (there's some room for debate in there, but that basic understanding will be enough for most people). In botanical terms, fruits are seed distribution organs of plants, while there is no definition for "vegetable" because that's not a concept with a botanical interpretation. --- This is my signature.
