I don't know how Trump fans reconcile the discrepancy there but Trumpism isn't founded on rational thinking.

Seriously though, as someone who had formally considered myself a pretty solidly conservative person, the complete and total evil of the right being exposed to the world in plain sight, especially this year, has been pretty hard on me. I voted D down ticket, and will be voting in each election going forward, not just presidential years. There has been... its almost trauma, trying to reconcile my beliefs about the party and the stances I've held in the past. Knowing how I rationalized and rationalized, time and again. I feel so stupid, so dirty.

I want to believe that some people on the right are also struggling with these feelings and the recognition that they've backed a party that is so extremely on the wrong side of history and an enemy of humanity. That if they allow just a little more reflection on who they're supporting and why, they might change. And for the (truly) religious of the right, how the party does not represent, support, or further any of their agenda.
