Dewey,Gale,Sidney and Judy Hicks are the only returning characters as of now. Rumors are there is going to be flashbacks due to recent set photos which show older vehicles like from Scream 1 and Skeet Ulrich is supposedly involved which would mean flashbacks since he was shot in the head at the end of 1. A theory is that one of the new characters is going to be his son, i would like for that to be true but not have his son be the killer. Have him be a red herring otherwise it's such a cop out. Roger L Jackson is back as the voice of Ghostface, there is nobody better to voice the character.
