And considering he traveled there with an aillegal gun and shot people. I don't buy it. You seem to be ignoring the context intentionally. He traveled across state lines (with or without a gun) to a protest of people he hated while illegally owning a gun, then killed people with that gun. It's kinda hard to claim self-defense in that context.
