That's been happening for a while. Ostensibly, the price of games hasn't increased, but the average revenue game companies are making per copy sold is well over $100 at this point for most AAA titles. Between carving games up to sell critical stuff as DLC (that's not all DLC, but the practice definitely happens) and long-term monetization strategies in the form of microtransactions and the like, games are not designed to merely cost $60 anymore. Those users that do resist the extra stuff and only spend $60 often end up with an inferior product for doing so, and there aren't enough of them to keep the whales from inflating the average.
