No offense, but I feel like you could take a cue from your own advice here and not focus too much on the dogshit writing. Nuka World is a microcosm of the game as a whole - weak premise, (mostly) bad writing, but a very fun worldspace to explore. Having had to actively go out of my way to avoid or put off the main plot in both Fallout 3 and 4, I find it perversely liberating to have a Bethesda game finally encourage you to literally wipe out its driving plot element and just explore the worldspace at your own leisure.

Of course your mileage may vary. I went into Nuka World expecting some generic amusement park, and was quite pleasantly surprised to find that they'd gone full-blown Disney World parody; I love going to Disney World, so it was easier to notice and appreciate all the references great and small, from the sci-fi movie drive-in down to the Spanish-language 'please stand clear of the doors' announcement in the monorail. And to be fair they blew most of their creative energy on the Galactic Zone, but the other areas are still plenty fun, and the Kiddy Zone has a pretty decent sub-story by Bethesda standards.

tbh its mostly that i went for far harbor first since i was hyped for it, then i went to nuka world and it was like i was hit with a brick in my face because the NPC's and factions were god awful, and the portrayal of "raiders" in it was so pathetic i just didn't want anything with it.

In hindsight yeah maybe if took a page of my own comment and ignored it and focused on the exploring maybe i would've enjoyed it more, but the big difference is that while the main game's story was weak, it wasn't offensively bad, this thing was just awful, they had me for a sec when they trapped me in the hellmaze the raiders made, to "hey you're our new leader go commute with the criminal psychos that have literal slaves running their shit..."
