Well in that case what the state did is made protesting without a permit in front of a state building a felony, and at least in that state being a convicted felon means you can't vote. So that's really a broader issue about whether or not felons should have the right to vote.

Beat me to it. They made it a felony, punishable by up to 6 years in prison. Which is crazy for a non violent protest. The not being able to vote is just a side effect of the already existing laws regarding felons.
