On a side note, I find the whole idea that the sequel trilogy is misandrist to be laughable. Men in positions of power go around raping women and making decisions that lead to the deaths of millions, yet they genuinely think Poe having to be disciplined by Holdo and grumpy old Luke are serious problems from a POLITICAL perspective? Are men, like, not allowed to show weakness now? How thick-skinned can these people get? Seriously, Holdo's gender has no bearing on who she is - it could have easily been a male character in the same position. Honestly the whole Poe and Holdo dynamic in TLJ is basically Samus and Adam from Metroid: Other M with the genders reversed - and done a lot less badly to boot. At least accusing that game's plot of misogyny makes some sense given Samus is one of gaming's premier heroines - what's the excuse here?

If the sequel trilogy was feminist propaganda, Luke would have tried to molest Rey, but he doesn't even acknowledge her gender in any way. Doesn't even tell her she's pretty or anything. So yeah those people are borderline misogynists to me, and if they bring up Leia as an excuse I'll just invoke the Grandfather Clause. If these people don't want to be painted as bigots, acting like Trump supporters (e.g. blaming women and POC for ruining movies like they do for ruining America) should be something they avoid at all costs, but they don't even try and if anything invite further comparisons. They even react to opposing views just like Trump does. No wonder so many men seem to have no idea how to behave around women.

Long story short, a surprising number of criticisms of the sequel trilogy carry the implications that the people making them view white men as the default state of humanity. If that's not bigotry I don't know what is.
