This is all well and good but that doesn't necessarily mean a great childhood. To cut a long story short me and my full siblings could have been put into the system. Hell my half siblings actually was. Having a unfit mother would do that.

Yeah, just cause your parents have money doesn't mean they are good parents, or heck, even that they spend the money on you. Certainly was't saying that. There are good poor parents who have kids they love/care for but don't have a bed, or even a seperate room for the kid/s.

It may be a bit different now then when I was a kid (also this is in the US), but I know from teaching that there are still parents that totally ignore their kids and shouldn't be parents at all. CPS is there to help in theory, but there are many ways to get around them, like moving constantly like my mother did for instance. Even in extreme cases kids slip through. My brother was put into the system when he was 9 and I was 11, because he got in trouble at school and my mother was in a mental institution at the time, so was declared unfit. I was 11 and ignored lol. At the time I had been taking care of him and myself for so long, it felt normal for me and I certainly didn't look for help. As an adult now though I find it insane that I was just left alone to take care of myself at 11.
