I agree totally with the CV environments being bland, which I definitely accredit to being the first game in the series to use actual 3D backgrounds instead of pre-renders. Some areas still look nice though, especially the Ashford mansion which is a perfect Gothic-inspired design with an amazing centerpiece! CV is actually my favorite story of the series, while understanding the wackiness of it all. I just find the Ashford family story to be really dark and compelling, again in a Gothic, cursed history sort of way, which I enjoy and wish there was more of even! The gameplay is for sure tough though.
