I get the rental angle, since buying it means one person could split the initial cost, and then just pass the content around/ invite people over to watch. Renting only staves this off, but also turns people off (like me) from seeing it, when I can just wait a few months to see it for free anyways.

Disney rarely deserves pity, but as someone who works in the film biz, I feel for them. Films are massive investments, and not being able to make the likely $500M+ they would have made with a theater run puts them in a bind.

They could have just delayed the theatrical release until COVID ended.

$500m on ticket? Because that's not $500m in Disney's pocket.

What has Disney put out that was any good? And I'm not counting studios they bought because they suck, like Marvel, I mean an actual Disney movie. The last one I can remember being any good was maybe Lion King or Alladin? And I'm not talking about the remakes.

Are you actually talking "good" or "great"? And what are you actually counting as Disney?

Broadly speaking, even a so-so Disney film is generally better than a very good film produced by somebody else. There are very few bad Disney films.

Imagine paying money to see Chinese propaganda staring a anti Hong Kong actress.

Imagine actually thinking like this.
