This is the real problem and the main reason I've never voted independent.

It's like being a contrarian. You might be taking a stand for your opinion but the actual value of doing that is basically undermining your right to vote.

I'm willing to admit it's a self-fulfilling prophecy (people not believing an independent vote will count for anything so they vote for the major parties so they feel counted and tacitly continue the cycle) but unless a movement spins up to push society to vote outside the major parties, there isn't enough validity to voting for change that will just not come.
P much. Sad but taking a stand for independents now is like head butting the wall.
