It was 100% that FedEx, Nike, Amazon, etc were all de-listing merchandise costing $$$ or, in the case of FedEx, literally own the naming rights to their stadium. I know there was the whole "a group of ownership stakes collectively representing like 40% considering selling" too as you reference.
Trying to get a little good will in before shit hits the fan or keep the focus on the name instead of the other issue.

Amazon didn't delist merchandise until they said they were changing their name. FedEx doesn't sell merchandise and just asked them to look into it changing the name. Nike didn't delist anything until the name change was pretty much alluded to also.

I think you are overstating the pressure companies put on them.
