Bringing in Marcus and the Progenitor Virus is adding the mythos, but nothing to get excited about. The lead-in to the first game is lousy. It did finally end the mystery as to who Dewey was, the STARS member who bites it early. Years of theories led to him being a total throw away. Everything you said about the game play is spot on.
