Why do you feel qualified to make this assessment while calling other people's assessments wrong?

Probably because he has dealt with suicidal people before
And is aware of jerks on the internet

And he's right

Suicidal people will often use others as a crutch. Sometimes intentionally sometimes unintentionally and it's not healthy. There is a time where it can become abusive and they need to seek professsional help.

Anyone who turns to a loved one and says "I need you to stop me from killing myself." whether they know it or not is abusing that person. and it can go on for months or years

A lot if suicidal people feel like it's them against the world. You not trying to be an ally just confirms that that is the case.

And

1. Making them talk to random people, some of whom will be pushing to suicide isn't going to help that.

2. Sometimes the suicidal person needs to realize its not them against the world for themselves. Going "It's me and one person who I trust against the world." isn't a solution.

I don't think you truly realize how much of suicide is tied to mental health.
