I think what Ill do is upgrade my account to do covered calls, and make the purchases for other airlines (or AAL) on Thursdays since they expire on Fridays. Ill put the value slightly higher than whatever the value is each Thursday then take that profit out of my $18 investment sum. Eventually Ill break even sooner. But then if the airline advances beyond your call strike you don't get to participate in the upside, and you still participate in the downside if the airline falls more than the call premium. I think you're getting too fixated on "breaking even" on AAL. There's thousands of stocks out there, a dollar here is worth a dollar there. It isn't worth any more because you made it on AAL.
