The Dixie Chicks would disagree.

The Dixie Chicks weren't so much attacked by "Christian groups" as they were attacking their own fans, which predictably went poorly.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

"Cancel culture" is a campaign of bullying and intimidation where companies will drop people and projects over the slightest of allegations (when they'd willfully covered up actual bad behavior in the past) more on the fear of backlash than the merits of any claim. And the movement itself is largely fueled by people looking to get famous on social media rather than actual objections regarding the accusations.

Keep in mind that the Christian outrage over rape allegations was ignored whereas nowadays people have their career ruined over allegations as minor as making somebody feel uncomfortable.
