Pretty much sums up my feelings in the showrunners too.

Also, if we're on that Eccleston discourse - his season of Doctor Who is arguably the perfect distillation of the entire show, and it deserves a lot of credit. You learn everything you need to know about the Doctor and the universe he lives in - time travel, companions, sonic screwdriver, Daleks and regeneration. By virtue of only having the one season, the first revival series serves as a perfect introduction to the franchise, down to learning that he changes faces instead of dying.

And it's the strength of that first series that laid the groundwork for the rest of the ongoing series. So yeah, Eccleston is arguably nthe most important revival era Doctor, and his one season was a perfect Doctor Who experience. I still like Tennant a little bit better, but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy and respect Christopher Eccleston's Doctor
