I wanna touch on the crime will go through the roof issue.

IF cops were only called, and didn't patrol, but we had more cameras and methods to call cops if needed. We set up cameras for traffic violations as well (but actually fixed them so they didn't give false tickets etc), and in all situations a cop was called cameras were both worn by the cops and running from the vehicle (And cops were trained to park the vehical to record the events if at all possible), I don't think crime would go up at all, in fact, it would likely go down.

Why would it go down? For a few reasons.

First, if quaotas exist, they wouldn't anymore. Second things would not escalate from minor issues to major ones...well ever, cause nobody would call on a minor issue. Third the money saved could be used for services for people who need help (are drunk etc), homeless etc.

Also if the cops were basically on call for the citizens instead of prowling among them, people might actually trust them and call them when needed.

So I don't think we should get rid of cops all together (Although a rebranding might be a good idea) but we should retrain them, and refocus them, so cops are literally there FOR THE PEOPLE, not there to seek out and arrest anyone they can, often for very minor reasons, or if some people are to be believed, for no reason at all because they don't like you, are racist, are in a bad mood, haven't gotten enough arrests lately, or you look like someone they are mad at lol.

I'm white, I don't break ANY laws (I'm kinda OCD about a few things and that is one, don't even drink, don't do pot in a place where more people smoke pot than drink in fact, I don't even jay walk (except a very few times when everyone was doing it so it just made sense), but I STILL get nervous when I see a police car, especially if i'm driving.

I don't think to myself "Oh good there is a police man keeping us safe", nope, I think "Oh no, I hope that police officer isn't gonna find something wrong with my car, or think I look like a suspect (has happened twice in my life), or pull me over for some other reason.

Does ANYONE actually feel safe or happy when they see a cop now adays?
