Without a clear goal or purpose to humanity, it is difficult to call it a failure. I wanted to say something similar but I made my post right before it hit me. There is no benchmark to compare humanity to, we don't interact with a sentient species that has demonstrated better character than our society, so all we have is the ability to look at ourselves and ask if we're doing all we can to do right by ourselves. So in that regard, it may look bad for some of what humanity causes upon itself, but realistically maybe it's all that the human psyche is capable of. There are some things that you just can't wean out of the way the human mind works, even if we don't think they're beneficial to a working society. --- "It feels like I'm always wrong."
