Brees is a right wing Christian from a nowhere town in Texas Thats kind of my feelings too. Like there's ignorance and there's intent to harm. Brees' comments falls into the former camp. That said, I understand if he wants to stand for the anthem for his own reasons, but he shouldn't criticize people who want to protest on that time as well. I don't think anyone would have said anything if he had just said "I'm going to stand for the anthem because that's what I believe in but I don't hold anything against people who feel like kneeling is their way to spread awareness". That's all he had to say. It was also pretty shitty that it wasn't really the question that he was asked and he just went off on that tangent. I think he wants to do good and over his career in NOLA he has done a lot of good for the minority community but he just lives in a bubble considering where he's from. I dont think he had any ill intentions but yeah he just didn't get it.
