It really had nothing to do w/ policies. Bernie's policies should have appealed to them, and he has a LONG history of supporting racial equality.

I don't know why, but the reason I heard people mention in the news was that (older) black voters care the most about picking someone they already know really well and are sure they can trust. Bernie despite his long tenure was pretty unknown until the 2016 election to most of the country. Biden was Obama's VP. So...yeah. If that is their reasoning for who they vote for...then it sure does wonders for the issue of old establishment politicians keeping the younger more progressive ones from rising up in general, too. :(
