Modern smart phones recognize when the battery is full and stop charging, then use the power cord as it's power source to keep it on while not draining or charging the battery. Even ignoring the impact of trickle charging (which may or may not occur depending on your phone), keeping the phone stored near 100% for 8+ hours every day is a stress on the battery that causes capacity to noticeably degrade --- Take me for what I am -- who I was meant to be.
