TLJ - Rian Johnson makes a huge deal of smashing up the mask and Ren doesn't wear it anymore. RoS - Abrams brings the mask back. I actually felt like that was well handled on JJ's part. It was way too early to smash it in TLJ. It would be one thing if he made a new pristine mask but JJ makes a point of showing and even highlighting the fracture lines.
