Ok.

I mean what other way do you get direct deposit information to send out stimulus? This way they got out a good chunk of it by mid April, and now can start sending out other batches of Direct deposit or paper checks to get it to the rest.

And NY has frozen evictions for 3 months so landlords can either (1) work with tenants to get partial payment and wait for unemployment to kick in to get the rest or (2) try to evict, and lose out on almost a year or more of rent waiting for the moritorium to end, then getting the case to the court, while the tenant doesn't pay rent.
Because people are still not able to enter their direct deposit information and that site has been live for two weeks.

Companies like Google and Microsoft can handle all this easily, but most of the country runs on antiquated systems AND methods. This applies to the state level too. In NY, they want you to talk to someone, just so you can get a fax number, to fax extra documents. While there is a portal available with an online messaging system. You can't reach anyone unless you make it your job to call all day.

It's not that simple. A lot of people in NYC live in places that are considered illegal and landlords will just use intimidation tactics like getting a bunch of gang members to scare you to leave. I've seen it happen too much.

Even then, I'm not making the argument about it paying the rent. The $1200 can go a very long way for shit like food and other smaller bills.

I somewhat get your point, but I feel like you're coming from a suburban and/or ignorant POV.
