Universe Dream Land Pac-Man Universe --- Pandora (Borderlands): A planet built by the ANCIENT SUPER ALIENS as a prison for the ANCIENT SUPER THREAT. Standard setup, at least. Lots of dangerous wildlife to drive people away I like the cacti, I guess. Anyone mind if I switch gears slightly? Whatever happened to Avatar 2? Avatar made more money than God, and yet here we are, Avatar 2-less. Sunnydale: I remember watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a kid and thinking the hellmouth concept was genius. Little did I know it was stolen. To be honest, I dont know much of the ironic humor I got when I watched this show, I imagine Id understand it better today. I like how because the town attracts supernatural shenanigans, it has things like five gothic cemeteries and a low property value thanks to the constant vampire crime. I also enjoy how everyone just ignores the vampires, but not for any supernatural reason, they just dont want to deal with it. There are towns like this in California in size and scope, though I wouldnt call them common. Is the most unrealistic thing in Sunnydale that it has a profitable magic shop? I used to live in walking distance of an occultism shop. I didnt move; they just shut down because no one ever went there. So did the other Slayers also live in or move to other hellmouths, or is it just Buffy? Azeroth: Man, Azeroth sure has come a long way since Warcraft 1. Have you ever looked at the maps and lore there? Its the most barebones stuff possible. Alright, Im gonna break this down: the idea of the Burning Legion going around the universe being evil and Azeroth is just one random planet among billions is interesting. The idea that youre just a dude of no particular importance, trying to make his way in a vast and uncaring world is interesting. The idea that Azeroth is the only unconquered planet left, and youre the great hero everything depends on, is stupid. Thats the thing with WoW: its gone on for so long that it just needs more excuses for things to happen, so the writers just come up with anything. Some of it is cool, some of it is dreck. Like I like the idea of Allied Races, and clearly Blizzard wanted a racial variant of all the first five races for both factions, but who in Gods name decided to fart out void elves, lightforged draenei and mechagnomes? Speaking of which, its kind of unfortunate that basically all of the lore and events are centralized around the humans, orcs, and undead. Every so often, another race gets to do something, but thats the way it goes. There should be entire storylines where the night elves do something against the Alliances wishes, etc. Ah well. The truth is that Im blinded by nostalgia for Azeroth, so I cant hold its many flaws against it. --- Not changing this sig until I decide to change this sig. Started: July 6, 2005 ...
