Dragon Quest doesn't change at all but I think people forget how FF has a really long history of being different.

1 - party of 4 from 6 jobs
2 - no jobs at all, no levels. Just skills that each have to be raised differently
3 - jobs that you can change any time you want
4 - everything is predetermined
5 - 3 but in ATB
6 - Like 2 again but with Levels as a baseline. Every character has a unique ability that further set them apart. There's also equipment restrictions
7 - blank slate jobless characters again where you have to raise individual skills except your skills are equipment and you can change them or re equip them on other characters.
8 - draw junction enemies have level ranges wtf lol
9 - basically it's FF4 again.
10 - weird summon system, otherwise nothing really new in this game
12 - RTWP combat and license board that otherwise means all characters are identical like FF2
13 - Don't do drugs kids
15 - full on ARPG
Oh yeah Final Fantasy has always been like this, it isn't a new thing.

From the depths, the thing they called Worm King did rise.
Nirn itself did scream in the Mages' and Necromancers' war.
