He has always been far more interested in cultivating a cult of personality than serving a political party and furthering their goals. He was useful in gaining the presidency for the Republicans, yet he is far too irrational and erratic for any long term role in guiding the Republican Party. If my memory serves me correctly, was he not a Democrat a few years ago?
