They feel better thinking that some malicious conspirators are pulling all the strings rather than the truth that you live in a cold uncaring and random universe that has a myriad of ways of throwing lethal things at you can you can do little or nothing about. Could it have been? Yes. Do we know that it is? No. IF your sure it was, without evidence then yes, that is kinda crazy.
