Id ~ Purpose
Imbrium
The Black Song

why is there no song called Ego ~ Porpoise this feels like a huge missed opportunity.

Fax Factory is a mysterious song. Are we mass-producing faxes? Or fax machines? Perhaps we in fact faxed an entire factory to some distant island off the coast of Denmark. The world demands answers!

Scars of Fauna sounds so deliciously Gusty before it becomes so deliciously Nekomata and then it becomes both at once and it is SCRUMPTIOUS. Gets a little too rhythm-gamey for my tastes at times, but still a good jam.

Imbrium is super cool. I feel like I'm exploring a haunted industrial park filled with boo-bops. Which is, of course, the best kind of industrial park. That violin at the very end is literally perfect I cannot describe why but!!! This match is too close.

THE BLACK SONG is so good! It's kind of hard to express just why it's so good though, but -- bear with me, people who've heard me gush about this before -- it's not in Japanese. It's in faux Japanese with random linguistic drift, as if this song were transplanted back from a thousand years in the future or whatever and then we're left to decipher it like LINGUIST DETECTIVES it's so much fun someday I'm going to figure out a proper way to express the lyrics in future-English and release a lyric video with those lyrics for this and Final Song and nobody will see it because youtube will preference the videos with two million views and also I have no video editing skills but I will know it's there.

memories of you makes me cry every time. It's genuinely surprising to me that it retired, since the lyrics and context are a pretty big part of why I like it -- like quick aside here's the chorus: "We were together for a single, brilliant, shining moment, and I never knew how much it meant until it was too late. Now, all I can do is strive to keep it close to my heart; I will embrace the feeling. So, you know? I remember you, by my side then, always, always, always smiling, and though I've lost you, I'll bring you back; I will never leave you" -- though the piano over the guitar post-chorus is super moving too. This match is too close too.

I give this day a Harry-Dresdon / Dirk-Gently.
