The story was badly laid out, the main villain wasn't used properly and side characters had more going for them than the main characters. That said, I enjoyed the environments, and I've heard the Zodiac addition added some great things to the game. But it continued the trend of taking things away from Final Fantasy which made it Final Fantasy. No more turn-based combat, no more world maps, no more airships(and no the fast travel we got from it and 10 aren't airships).
