Brawl was outright beating Majora for the rest of the match, but the slow start was too much to overcome. FFX would've done the same thing because, more than wanting Majora or FFX to win, they wanted Brawl to lose. The fact that people wanted to rally around Zelda "just to be safe" ruined GOTD more than Brawl winning would have.
