Had the CDC lie that COVID-19 would permanently reduce sperm count in those infected, you would have seen increases in people practicing self-quarantining, even if they weren't sick, but just out of fear of catching it, and social distancing. They could have even made a fake paper and charts/numbers, presented by top disease experts, to make it more believable. For the greater good of society, sometimes a little white lie is necessary, if not expected, during such times of crisis.
