they're claiming enormous errors in the results by getting the difference between the exit polls and the actual results and then dividing that total by the exit poll total

it's literally a meaningless operation, the error is just the error, you don't change it based on what the person got. That would be like saying someone polling at 50% in a poll has a different margin of error around their estimate than someone polling at 0%. That isn't how polling works
