GiftedACIII 02/23/20 9:12:56 AM #20: | I will say that the actual methods of the cases in DD and SoJ get way too convoluted for their own good. If thats something you prioritize then I can understand having problems with them. The general concepts and overall narratives still tend to be creative imo. For example, Rite of Turnabouts actual case is messy but the narrative of Also it is interesting that you dislike the spirit medium aspect too because I always disliked it in the original trilogy but ironically Im fine with it in SoJ, I think due to the more established rules around it and also showing that its something that can be manipulated instead of just a deus ex machina for Phoenix. I can see your point in wanting new things over old ones but to be fair theres only so many new plots you can have before its been done before. If its something like Turnabout Reclaimed that does the themes of a previous case but better then Im fine with it. And also yes, I consider Monstrous Turnabout the worse case in the series. The Magical Turnabout is mainly for Trucy who shows more character in this case than the generic bubbly sidekick she was in her entire previous existence. Also, the whole case is just more enjoyable and less awkward than the previous magic cases, especially 4-3. I agree with you about DD whose overall theme dark age of the law was executed horribly and doesnt make any sense because corrupt officials have always existed but I think Spirit of Justice does have a good consistent theme of trying to reform a developing oppressive government with three main cases dedicated to supporting that arc like T&T and AAI2. I do think the actual ending of the case became cliched and got a little over the top but for most of the arc it was genuinely top-notch. 6-4 and 6-6 are snorefests though. --- </topic> ...
