Even if AAI1 is mediocre, which it is, I still think it fits in well with the tone and style of the OG trilogy, and even if Apollo Justice is a godawful piece of shit, at least it tried to shake up the trilogy and justify its own existence as a, one could say, turnabout of expectations.

In contrast, both Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice are just the laziest shit, never trying to do anything remotely interesting, just give us the same damn thing they know the fans like, as if the thing they liked years ago in the older games is something they'd want to see again and again with diminishing returns and a notable lack of creativety. Lot of things to like in the individual cases, but the only standard ones for me in the two games are Turnabout Academy and Turnabout Revolution, because they actually did some interesting things with the established characters and what you'd expect from a case in their individual locations within the games.

At the rate things are going I imagine the most creative choice in the next game will be to give Apollo a third random-ass backstory. But still not tell him and Trucy who their mother is or that they're related.
