I just want to point out that Lee's quote about slavery being a "moral and political evil" is taken out of context. He turns it back around to say that it's good for black people because it leads them to Christianity, but bad for white people because it builds dependence on slavery. It's not a quote spoken in sympathy with the victims. It's more like a drug user snorting junk into his nose and saying, "Man, you don't want to get stuck on this shit."

thank you for that context. some like to conveniently leave that out.
