CAN change their hearts, but only if they want to. It's pretty easy to tell those who come in bad faith from those who are actually open and will sincerely consider your words and perspective.

Once somebody has slipped up and shown you their true colors, there's no reason to continue.

Your chances of changing a stranger's mind(especially on the internet) is slim to none because most people are married to their beliefs and are only interested in changing your mind instead. Even if it's just some type of emotional crutch for them to believe in nonsensical shit. Some cultures have survived on delusions of grandeur and blind faith alone, lol.

People being enlightened after being stuck in darkness is a noteworthy story because it's so rare in cases like this, but anecdotal evidence doesn't speak for the majority of interactions.

Trying to convince people that they should accept a burden of being some dense stranger's life coach is naive at best. And [redacted because moddable] at worst
