Because normal people wouldn't make a topic saying "my neighbor down the street just did something" unless there was an implicit assumption that who they were or what they were doing is something anybody else in the world might care about.

I don't understand how mind viruses like this work. "Everybody is talking about a person named Lizzo now"
Me: "But why?"
Lots of people: "Shut up, we are"
Other people: "What do you have against Lizzo? Do you hate her because she's fat black woman?"

It's just like what happened with Greta
"Everybody is talking about a person named Greta now"
Me: "But Why?"
Lots of people: "Shut up, we are"
Other people: "What do you have against Greta? Do you hate her because she's a Swedish teen girl?
