ran into one with the Mets suggesting Edwin Diaz

nope

trading Diaz right now would be one of the dumbest things they could do, since he's at such low value right now. that would also be the front office admitting defeat and their egos are way too big to ever do that anyway, so I have no idea what rumors youre reading, but this sounds more like someone's cooked up idea lol

also thats way way too much anyway. I ain't trading anything valuable for a reliever, period. Smith is one of the guys they are most likely to trade though for the reason you said yes, if teams see sufficient value in him, which I am not sure I would because he's such a valuable bench piece and those are important as you said. But if you can get a valuable enough piece for him, then do it.
Generally tho from a depth point of view, they really are not in a place to be trading anything away from the MLB team, but they kind of have to given their budget constraints EVEN THOUGH THEY JUST WINDFELL INTO 25M LAST YEAR AND ANOTHER 20M THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF THE CESPEDES RENEGOTIATED CONTRACT AND THEY AREN'T GOING TO REINVEST IT BECAUSE FUCK

also, I do value personality because this is the team I am rooting for and I want to like them, and I really would have a hard time with Hader on my team. And Dom is one of the more likeable guys on the team, I'm still dealing him where it makes sense but it makes me sad

The Mets should probably focus on building a bullpen of solid relievers instead of making another trade for one elite piece.

yes, they need 1-2 "solid" pieces to build around, but they're mostly gone already, because this front office doesn't care about winning at all. It's not like these solid BP guys getting signed are ultra expensive or anything and like I said they JUST GAINED LIKE 25M IN "LUXURY TAX" CAP ROOM THAT THEY CONVENIENTLY WAITED TO ANNOUNCE UNTIL EVERYONE MEANINGFUL SIGNED and also any statement about the luxury tax being a determent is fucking horseshit anyway since its only like a 20% penalty if you're < 10M over... and also the Mets salary as we already know is fudged to make it look better than it actually is- so the Wilpons can claim they are a top spending team when in reality they are bottom 3rd.
