Banned a paypig for questioning why he's buying games if he's so hard up for money. Phil called him an asshole and ranted.
I actually want to respond to this.

Almost every (popular at least) streamer usually has a genre they stick to, or a few games. Even if that streamer picks up a new game, they will stick with it for a long time, especially if it fits their genre.

Now admitedly, some streamers diversify a little, but not to the same point as Phil does and play up to a dozen different games. And not a single streamer plays every fucking AAA game under the sun, at the same time. Because it divides your audience and makes it harder for them to keep up.

This comment is extremely valid to Phil, because sticking to a genre (fighting games + Souls like games, since these get him the most views), would bot be great for viewer retention and stop dividing his audience. The people who come for game A, aren't the same people as game B.

By sticking with one game for a longer time, people will find you sooner as well. If you'd be playing Code Vein (a Souls like), and people are looking for that particular game, you are losing potential views/income as you hop to another game.

Day 1 views NEVER work out for Phil, because new viewers will just hop to the next (better) person playing that game.

Also, by sticking to a genre, you are limiting your expenses. By playing the same game for weeks/months, you don't have to buy every single game anymore, and by visiting old games, you limit your expenses further. And it would help so much by engaging your viewers: do coop/multiplayer, make lobbies, do duels. It's not about showing off how amazing you are at a game, it's abouy engaging your audience and building up retention.

The popular streamers aren't just popular for the game they play, it's all about their brand.

Ironically, Phil's brand is not having a brand at all.
