TopicStar wars spoilers - isn't it ironic between the Jedi and Sith

Look into the lore, folks.

Qui-Gon discovers that the power behind immortality is compassion. He conveys this to Yoda in a deleted scene from the end of Revenge of the Sith, and the canon is that his force ghost goes on to continue teaching Yoda and Obi going forward.

It's all irony. Compassion, love is something that Sith would never be able to truly embrace, so the secret is cut off from them. Darth Plagueis never achieved that power; he could only go as far as propping up a dying body to exist in a constant state of pain (see Darth Vader). Sith lords of the past would have to tether their existence to an object or a location, trapped as a ghoul. Palpatine is lying to Anakin about what the Sith have achieved in order to lure him over.

Also ironic that the humanity that the Jedi Order rejects, and the key piece of dogma that fucked up Anakin in the first place, is the ultimate answer to the questions. It took a rebel in Qui-Gon (and Luke) to push through the old ways.
