Hes not saying its the same thing, hes saying he has experience and understanding of people treating you differently based on something harmless you can't control "Othering" you with judgements, stereotypes and hate Hell in the US gay people still dont have equality, black people do in law. But of course people ignore the nuance and just pretend he was calling himself black or other silly claims A legal immigrant being held in a camp at the boarder for 2 years isnt the sane as a guy falsely accused of rape spending 2 years in prison But theres probably overlapping of experience and sympathy there that others wont feel --- ...
