I never like how it's downplayed if you get it. In Australia, it may be different, but here in the USA most aren't going to be able to afford the meds to keep them alive because of our shit healthcare and we have people over here downplaying it too. It's madness. No, it's not the death sentence it once was and transmission rates can be lowered, but it's still a life changing thing and shouldn't be taken lightly.


I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting that getting HIV is no big deal (at least, I'm not). The point though is to remove the stigma that you shouldn't stand within 30 foot of someone with HIV, which is unfortunately where a lot of people seem to be at still.

Medicine has come far enough that people who don't have HIV can be in sexual relationships with HIV positive people and be unaffected. Undetectable = untransmissable is the official CDC position on this.
