I mean I didn't go around having random sex all the time like people do today (tons), but even so I (and every other male over the age of 18 (and many under that age), had a condom in their wallet just the same, even if it was just wishful thinking and they had actually never used one before (I admit I didn't have one in my wallet when I was 19 and lost my virginity, but I was not the norm...like most guys I knew had sex already and had condoms. I carried one after that though). I have not since getting married, but I figured all the young guys who were not married (and possibly the guys who were, but didn't want kids) still did.
