I don't get it. What are the benefits of a foldable screen? I thought flip phones went out of fashion in the early 2000s?
Smartphones have reached the point where changes in hardware are very minor year on year.

So what's the benefit? Even from a purely aesthetic point of view I don't get it.

Basically a phone/tablet hybrid. Keep it folded up if on a call then fold it out for maps, games, etc. Tablets are great for media consumption, but wouldn't it be kind of cool to fold one away and put it in a pocket or bag if you wanted to store it?

I store my phone in my pocket anyway. How much bigger is the screen on the Galaxy Fold then to the high end iPhones?

I think the Fold is 4.6" on the small display and expands to 7.3" when folded out. You can have up to I believe 3 apps on screen at the same time which is 2 more apps than any iPhone.

7.3" isn't massive. The iPad Mini is 7.9". You'd have thought if they were competing for the tablet market they'd... you know... make it tablet sized?

3 apps on screen I can see a few use cases but not on a 7.3" screen.
