I think Brosnan was the very best example of what a James Bond ought to be but Timothy Dalton's Bond kind of played up the harder edge of the character and Craig's is like the descendant of that. He's supposed to be more spy than assassin, but it's true he is both. Timothy Dalton is my favorite. He was able to do the harder edged Bond with him still being James Bond. Even License To Kill, which was Bond going on his own in a typical 80's action movie way, still felt like a James Bond movie featuring The character of James Bond.
